Silver nitrate (I) (caustic silver, "infernal stone", lyapis from ital. lapis "pencil"/lat. lapis "stone") — colourless rhombic crystals. Density is 4,352 g/cm ³. Temperature of melting is 209,7 °C. At temperature above 300 °C decays. Water solubility (/100): 122,2 at 0 °C; 222,5 at 20 °C; 770 at 100 °C. Solubility in methyl spirte3,6 / 100; in ethyl alcohol of 2,12 g / 100; in acetone of 0,44 g / 100; in pyridine of 33,6 g / 100 (all solubilities — at 20 °C). Formula: AgNO3

Silver nitrate is used in medicine for cauterization and sterilization of wounds. It is applied also in the film photo.
