Lithium carbonate (lithium carbonic, lithium a carbonate) - alkali salt of lithium and carbonic acid, represents fine - crystalline powder of a white, is badly dissolved in water. Melting temperature is 732 °C.
Receiving
Lithium carbonic (Lithium a carbonate) is produced by a transmission of a carbon dioxide gas through lithium hydroxide solution, and also by means of reaction of potash or soda with solutions of salts of lithium at 80 - 90 °C.
Application
Lithium carbonate (lithium a carbonate, lithium carbonic) is widely applied in different areas, for example:
• as alloying constituent for ensuring special properties of glass and ceramics; at production of enamels, glazes, different thermo and acid - resistant coverings.
• as a component of the refining gumboils in aluminum production;
• as a semi - product for synthesis of different compounds of lithium, an additive in ferrous metallurgy, production of special glasses.
• in production of porcelain: for introduction to a blend and receiving products with small coefficient of linear expansion and almost total absence of shrinkage when roasting.
• in the oil, chemical and textile industry.
