Isoamyl acetate (CH3)2CH(CH2)2 - OOCCH3 is applied as solvent of nitrocellulose and cellulose triacetate (in production of film, celluloid, etc. ), is part of glue for films. In the food industry it is known under the name of pear essence. Has harmful effect on the central nervous system.

Colorless volatile liquid with fruit smell. It is flammable. Temperature of boiling is 142 °C.

Receive interaction of isoamyl alcohol with acetic acid in the presence of the catalyst (the concentrated H2SO4).
